JUNIOR SPEECH / STILL FROM MY PERSONAL VIDEO
An honest voice
Peer support
Shared belonging
01 / BEFORE THE STAGE
What did I want to say?
Preparing my Junior Speech changed what I wanted from the stage. I moved away from pursuing the end-of-year award and toward expressing what was true to my experience.
02 / SPEAKING HONESTLY
Making room for another person.
That change connected with the way I supported peers. Sharing honestly can make it easier for someone else to talk about their own uncertainty and sense of isolation.
03 / WHAT STAYS WITH ME
Listen. Accompany. Stay present.
Supporting a younger international student can begin with a small conversation. Having navigated a new culture myself, I try to offer reassurance and presence instead of pretending to have every answer.
