Athletics & Mindset

The mountain is

where I return.

Skiing. Snowboarding.

A mindset that travels with me.

On snow, I learn to look ahead, adapt, and begin again. On courts, in the water, and with a team, those lessons keep taking new forms.

SKIING / FINDING MY LINE

Look ahead.

Find your balance.

Every mountain offers a different view, and every descent asks me to respond to what is in front of me. Skiing has become a place to practise attention, balance, and the willingness to keep learning.

The lesson stays with me after I leave the snow.

SNOWBOARDING / A DIFFERENT WAY TO LEARN

Your board follows

your gaze.

Teaching myself to snowboard meant learning through trial and error. I learned to look toward where I wanted to go, find my balance, and begin again after a fall.

Moving to Columbus put me far from the mountains. The habit of recalibrating stayed: finding my footing in an unfamiliar school, and learning to lean on a new team.

A turn.

An adjustment.

Another beginning.

Attention, momentum, and adaptation—the qualities I carry from the slope into the rest of my sporting life.

ON COURT / LEARNING THROUGH REPETITION

A familiar game.

Unfamiliar places.

Training across countries has brought me onto new courts, alongside new coaches and players. The racket became something familiar to carry into unfamiliar settings.

Progress comes from returning to the practice.

03 / VARSITY BASKETBALL · THREE SEASONS OF LEARNING

From “How am I doing?”

to “How are we doing?”

I was looking inward.

When I first joined the varsity team, I worried about my skills and overthought my mistakes. So much of my attention was caught up in how I was doing.

As the season went on, I began to notice that my teammates carried their own quiet pressures. I learned to ask for help, listen, and lean on the people beside me.

SURFING / THE NEXT ATTEMPT

Surfing is part of my experience in individual sports: another setting for balance, persistence, and learning through physical challenge.

SWIMMING / PERSONAL VIDEO

In another element.

From the court to the water, movement takes different forms. Swimming is another part of the sporting life I keep exploring.

05 / TRAINING IN DIFFERENT FORMS

Strength, rhythm,

and repetition.

Dumbbell training and gym sessions add another dimension to my experience of movement, alongside racket and team sports.

Still a beginner,

in new ways.

Horse riding

Balance beyond the court.

Riding asks me to pay attention to another rhythm and a different environment. There is always room to keep exploring.

07 / WHAT I CARRY BEYOND SPORT

The shift was in

where I looked.

01

Make room for mistakes.

On a board or a court, uncertainty is part of learning. I can pause, adjust, and try again.

02

Ask for help.

Finding my footing in a team meant becoming willing to lean on others.

03

Notice the person beside me.

Looking beyond my own performance helped me recognize the pressures other people carry.

NEXT CHAPTER / COMMUNITY & EXPRESSION

Learning to see others.

Choosing to show up.

What began with listening to teammates now shapes how I support and accompany the people around me.
